Leave Your Feedback Pillow Giveaway

Next Friday evening, June 25th, 2010, some lucky winner gets to have ANY pillow they choose at PillowThrowDecor.

It’s been a month now since I redesigned and moved my blog from Blogger to self hosted WordPress Thesis theme and I love it!  I still have a long way to improve  design and content…. and today I am asking for your  feedback.

My goal is to attract readers that are artisan friends, DIY sewers, pillow shoppers, local drapery and upholstery customers, decorating divas, interior designers.

My goal is for  my visitors to come to my site for helpful information on pillows, drapes and upholstery. In turn I would be top of mind for them when they, or someone they know, needs to buy pillows or pillow kits (coming soon).

Here are the topics that I am expert in and enjoy writing about…

  1. New product information at PillowThrowDecor
  2. Pillows – all the intimate details and anatomy of decorative pillows,
  3. Sewing home accessories – pillows, bedding, bed scarves, etc
  4. Professional drapery fabrication, trends, styles, sources, fabrics, magazine reviews
  5. Upholstery and basic reupholstery
  6. Before and after makeovers  involving paint and fabric on upcycled items
  7. Decorating and interior design – reviews, trends, ideas – from  industry professionals
  8. Web marketing for service professionals or artisans – basic marketing bootcamp
  9. Keeping you in stitches with humor and other foolishness 🙂

I know that’s a lot of topics and here’s how you can help

Your name will be entered into the draw FOR ANY PILLOW at my ETSY store or my icraft.ca store when  you review the list of 9 topics,

  • Leave a comment here about what you find interesting.
  • Follow me or subscribe to my feed.

Want to  double your prize?

In the next week, I will post at least 5 times. Retweet each of these 5 posts. If your name is drawn, your prize is doubled…. two pillows of your choice (pick an EXPENSIVE ONE!!!)  As the winner, if there is not the exact pillow or pillows for you, I will make something custom… I want you to be absolutely thrilled with what you receive 🙂

Feedback on content is so appreciated! Another giveaway for feedback on design will come soon too!  Cheers Christine

I was most interested in your article about buttons on pillows (in the anatomy of a pillow category), and the sewing home accessories topic. I consider myself kind of a DIY sewer and it is really interesting to see how and why you do things.

  • PillowThrowDecor June 19, 2010, 1:29 pm

Thanks Alice! Look for some upcoming posts on “4 zipper styles and where you use them” and another on “different pillow corners”. It's fun to change the look and shape of a pillow with different techniques. Thanks again for your comments!

  • Rayan-The Design Confidential June 20, 2010, 2:26 am

I think sewing home accessories and upholstery are super d duper interesting since i am seriously ridiculously unable to sew with a machine…by hand…that is another story, but with a machine…um not so good! anything i can learn from you to help along my own readers and my home are fabulous!

  • Acp389 June 20, 2010, 4:05 am

I agree. I think the sewing home accessories posts are awesome! I think a lot of blogs just assume you can do a lot. some of us are sewing handicapped and really need it broken down!

I'm really interested in before and after photos and also any tips you have on sewing home accessories. I've never tried before, but maybe a tutorial would inspire me with confidence.

I have SO enjoyed getting to know you via our small bit of work together in the past few months. I enjoy your blog, and would love to hear more about how to sew new cushions for my glider! I've had it for 12 years and I HATE the fabric! But, I love the chair! I'd also love some hints on sourcing
(espically for fabric)! I'm a fabricoholic! Your blog about fabric storage had me in tears! (Did I mention that I just added more fabric to my stash last week!?)

Thank you so much for your blog! So much fun to read!

    • Christine June 20, 2010, 8:47 pm

Likewise! Well you’ll have to send me a picture of the glider and I’ll get you hooked up with all kinds of fabric no worries!!! LOL… Material Maniacs unite!

I like the art deco from your etsy store the best. I have never heard of a pocket pillow before. I wouldn't use it, but it seems like a fun idea for a man to own. CUTE

  • Katharine June 23, 2010, 5:53 am

Hi, I love pillows of all kinds. I've been making mine for years. I wanted to share my recent adventure to give you a laugh. I was making pillows for my old wicker set that I spray painted (I found it on a neighbors curb..love seat, chair and table). I went to an upolstery store and got indoor/outdoor fabric. I didnt want to put in a zipper or sew it closed so I thought why not use velcro. Well after my mom's 80th birthday I went to put the pillows away (so birds don't get to it) and the velcro pieces had popped off all over the place. I'm thinking..omg I must have made my mom's friend's laugh at my attempt to decorate.

I want to make a pillow, for my daughter, out of satiny material. What are your suggestions for sewing with that kind of fabric? I usually work with cotton or something like that. The material is black and I'm going to sew or pin fabric roses on top.

The orange and pink pillows that you recently made are gorgeous!

  • Felecia June 23, 2010, 2:02 pm

Reupholstery and the before and after makeovers are the most interesting to me. I would love to know how to give items a second chance and a new life!

I 'm a gfc follower and email suscriber.

  • ashley June 23, 2010, 2:31 pm

I loved the section on drapery. I have all loved the 'puddle look' and hopefully I can create that in my formal dinning room. 🙂

  • bison61 June 23, 2010, 11:43 pm

I like the Upholstery and basic reupholstery section. I bought 2 chairs at a garage sale that need to be recovered-I just need to get the guts to do it! I signed up for e-mail

  • Staycee June 24, 2010, 6:10 pm

I love pillows and like to see how other people decorate and their tips. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding on what would look best in what room so I like having an experts perspective 🙂
I have subscribed to GR as well 🙂

  • PillowThrowDecor June 25, 2010, 6:54 am

I would love for you to send me a picture of it and maybe I can design a tutorial around it. You can send to christine (at) pillowthrowdecor (dot) com. 🙂

  • PillowThrowDecor June 25, 2010, 6:59 am

I could swear I left a reply for you here the other day Katharine but checking back I can't find it… or maybe it is just too late tonight. I would be very pleased to send you some lining for that pillow cover because that is what you should be using there. Too funny about all the velcro bits!!!
